In the United States, a fake and violent religious ideology — belonging to a foreign country with illegal nuclear facilities — is driving both national and foreign policy, thus exposing the entire world population to the intolerable risk of a nuclear conflict.
But in modern democracies and modern democratic States, there is a legal SEPARATION OF POWERS between politics and religion.
Politics belongs to the public sphere, while religion belongs to the private sphere, cf. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.” (First Amendment).
Indeed, State as a political entity must be super partes at all times, and must always represent the interests of all citizens in an equal manner, irrespective of whatever religion they may, or may not, identify with.
