Prof. John Mearsheimer, “The level of dishonesty in our society is just stunning.”

MUST SEE: Prof. Mearsheimer, “Killing Without Purpose”

Judging Freedom – Thursday, March 27, 2025

Prof. John Mearsheimer is a West Point graduate who spent 5 years in the U.S. Airforce and, before going to West Point, he was an enlisted man in the U.S. Army.

Prof. Mearsheimer is a political scientist and a scholar of international relations in the realist tradition. He’s the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago, where he has taught for over 40 years. This is how he defines himself:

“Above all else, I am an international relations theorist. More specifically, I am a realist, which means that I believe that the great powers dominate the international system, and they constantly engage in security competition with each other, which sometimes leads to war.” https://www.mearsheimer.com/

Prof. Mearsheimer — “I often think about what’s happened to the concept of truth in our society.

People just lie all the time. They deceive all the time. They spin all the time. You don’t know what to believe anymore. It’s a tragic situation.

By the way, where it is most apparent is when it comes to Israel — because there, you’re not even allowed to talk about how Israel does this or does that, or how the Israeli issue relates to this issue or that issue… And the end result is that people end up speaking in oblique ways about the issue at hand.

The level of dishonesty in our society is really just stunning…

It’s not just Donald Trump, though. The problem is bigger than Trump.

There’s something fundamentally wrong in this country. It goes back many, many years, in many administrations.

This is not to defend Trump for one second… But nevertheless, the problem is very deep. And I don’t know how we’re going to get out of the mess we’re in.”

Judge Napolitano asks a question about the killing of civilians in Gaza and Yemen: What is gained by the U.S. military with all this killing?

Prof. Mearsheimer — “I’m surprised that you find this surprising. We are, and have been, supporting a genocide in Gaza since late 2023.

I mean, there’s nothing new, here. And furthermore, if you look at our behavior in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria…

The number of people who have died — and we’re talking about civilians, women, children, elderly men — is off the charts. This is just standard fare for the United States.

If you look at Israel and how it behaves in the Middle East, these days — it’s shooting the works up in countries all around the region, and we support it. Nobody protests…

They decide they’re going to attack in southern Lebanon, they do it. They decide they’re going to attack Syria, they do it. We decide we’re going to attack the Houthis, we do it.

We don’t care about the Constitution. We don’t care about the law.

We don’t care if civilians are getting killed.

This is the point that we’ve reached, here…”

Judge Napolitano asks another question about Signal Gate, since all his regular guests have extensively commented on that major scandal, e.g. Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, Larry Johnson and Ray McGovern, Ambassador Charles Freeman, Max Blumenthal and Aaron Mate, Col. Wilkerson and Col. Kwiatkowski, etc.

Prof. Mearsheimer — “Let me just add to the conversation, here. There is this word that seems to have gotten lost in our vocabulary. It’s called ‘accountability.’

Nobody is accountable for anything anymore.

I mean, you would think that someone would be held accountable for an egregious mistake like this.

You know, the level that Waltz and Hegseth and those folks are operating — you are in a “No excuses, Sir” world. [West Point discipline and terminology]

The national security of the United States is at stake. Your job is to protect this country. And you’re not supposed to make mistakes like this.

Again, a “No excuses, Sir” world. And when you make mistakes like this, you’re relieved of your post, period. There’s got to be some accountability.

But there is no accountability in the American system, which is one of the reasons — only one of the reasons — why we careen from one disaster to another.”

Prof. Mearsheimer — “There is this word that seems to have gotten lost in our vocabulary. It’s called ‘accountability.’

Nobody is accountable for anything anymore.

I mean, you would think that someone would be held accountable for an egregious mistake like this.”

Rape is a crime, and criminals belong in jail.

They don’t get to “supervise” anything in the life of their victims — least of all the academic work and research, dissertation, or any changes in the academic and/or professional career of the victims, see Harvard Policies below.

  When Jon Butler and Andrew Hamilton were summoned to court over Haun Saussy,

all the administrators became aware of the crimes committed by him and Solovieva.

Everybody knew:

From Richard Levin and his wife  — why was she on the payroll, with an illegal conflict of interests? — down to Pam Schirmeister, see Criminal Complaint in the links above.

Public records show that Dean Jon Butler and Provost Andrew Hamilton received Subpoenas to appear in court for Saussy.

They were perfectly aware that Saussy had a long history of mental illness;

he had very violent and abusive patterns of behavior, even against his family members;

and he had been committing disgusting crimes against much younger students and scholars.

But instead of helping those students and scholars, and many other potential victims,

they chose to aid and abet a KKK affiliate, a plagiarist, a violent criminal and sex offender.

As a result, everybody involved in those terrible crimes — the criminals and sex offenders, together with their enablers among faculty and staff — continued to steal private and public money for years.

Aiding and Abetting a violent criminal and sex offender –

Obstruction of Justice –

Omission of help to the victims –

Plagiarism –

Academic fraud –

Financial fraud against hundreds of students and scholars who were exposed to Haun Saussy and Olga Stupidieva:

exposed not only to their violent and racist crimes,

but also to their ignorance and plagiarism,

thus wasting their own time, work and money.

Indeed, those criminals are very similar to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Harvard University Policies and Procedures

“No Faculty of Arts and Sciences member, instructor, etc. shall request or accept sexual favors from, or initiate or engage in a romantic or sexual relationship with, any student, including a graduate student or DCE student, who is enrolled in a course taught by that individual, or otherwise subject to that individual’s academic supervision…

Academic supervision includes teaching, advising a thesis or dissertation, supervising research, supervising teaching, grading, or serving as Director of Undergraduate or Graduate Studies of the student’s academic program.”

Harvard condemns any sexual relationship which may or may not be consensual.

Their policies highlight the disparity in power in any situation involving teaching, grading, advising, supervising, and any change in the academic and/or professional career of students and younger scholars.

And they always place the burden of responsibility on faculty vis-à-vis students.

HARVARD UNIVERSITY

SEXUAL AND GENDER-BASED HARASSMENT POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

FACULTY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES (FAS)

 In the academic context, sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct often involves the inappropriate personal attention by an instructor who is in a position to exercise professional power over another individual.

This could include an instructor who determines a student’s grade or who can otherwise affect the student’s academic performance or professional future […]

Sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct can also occur between persons of the same University status […]

Both types of harassment and misconduct are unacceptable. They seriously undermine the atmosphere of trust essential to the academic enterprise.

Implicit in the idea of professionalism is the recognition by those in positions of authority that in their relationships with students or staff there is an element of power.

It is incumbent upon those with authority not to abuse, nor to seem to abuse, the power with which they are entrusted.

Even when both parties have consented at the outset to the development of a romantic or sexual relationship between individuals of different University status, it is the person in the position of greater authority who, by virtue of their special responsibility and the core educational mission of the FAS, will be held accountable for unprofessional behavior.

No FAS Faculty member, instructor, etc. shall request or accept sexual favors from, or initiate or engage in a romantic or sexual relationship with, any student, including a graduate student or DCE student, who is enrolled in a course taught by that individual, or otherwise subject to that individual’s academic supervision.

Academic supervision includes teaching, advising a thesis or dissertation, supervising research, supervising teaching, grading, or serving as Director of Undergraduate or Graduate Studies of the student’s academic program.

Rape is a crime, and criminals belong in jail.

A disgusting sex offender like Giuseppe Mazzotta doesn’t get to “supervise” anything in the life of his victims — least of all my academic work and research, dissertation, or any changes in my academic and/or professional career.

The Cloud of Unknowing

And to make the situation even more corrupt and paradoxical, Mazzotta has never — in his entire life, which he wasted with crimes and corruption — taken university courses and passed university exams on Shakespeare, Marlowe, English theater, etc.

He doesn’t know the texts;

he doesn’t know the scholars;

he doesn’t know the historical scholarship;

he doesn’t know the contemporary scholarship.
